Reverend Chris Newlands, Vicar of Lancaster, created in Spring 2014 the first liturgy in the UK for an affirmation service to renew the baptismal vows of a young man who had transitioned from female to male, using his new name and identity. Chris was appointed to the Anglican Church’s General Synod in 2015 and plans to make this transgender affirmation service available whenever required throughout the Anglican Church.
