Primrose Street

For a few years in the 1970s a house on Primrose Street operated as a Women’s Centre with the focus on women’s liberation, providing information and ‘consciousness raising’, and organising meetings and campaigns. Lesbian women were very involved in the actions of the Centre, including a take-over of the post office in protest at a move to take family allowances away from women.
