Professor H. Darnley-Naylor MA spoke about ‘Disarmament and its Critics’ at the AGM of the Nelson branch of the League of Nations Union, held in Stanley Street School. The first world disarmament conference would be held in Geneva in February 1932, and Professor Darnley-Naylor said there was still a lot of spadework to do in both this and other countries to ensure the success of the conference.
Professor Darnley-Naylor was described as Emeritus Professor of Classics of the University of Adelaide, Australia. He had previously held posts at Cambridge and Melbourne University. Since the war he had worked for the League of Nations and had helped to found all the League of Nations Societies in Australia. He had returned to live in England and work for the League of Nations. He was a prolific lecturer throughout the British Isles on behalf of the League.
