On 10 October 1928 a conference was held in West Toxteth of the Liverpool and District Women’s Advisory Council. 160 people were present, representing 32 women’s sections and three National Union of Railwaymen’s Women’s Guilds. The speaker was a Mr Kneeshaw, who spoke about ‘The Politics of Peace and War.’ This was followed by ‘a good discussion.’ The delegates also passed a resolution pledging that those present would not attend cinemas where war films were being shown.
