An organising meeting for the No More War demonstrations planned for the weekend of 29/30 July 1922 was held at the PM Schoolroom on 18 July. The meeting had wide support from many local societies and branches, including the League of Nations Union, National Union of Railwaymen, National Union of Gas Workers, Miners’ Lodge Durham Miners Association and the Independent Labour Party. Representatives formed a committee to build the demonstration. It was agreed that this would take place in Wingate on Sunday, 30 July.
