The South Wales section of the Peacemakers’ Pilgrimage, which had set out from Cardiff, was made welcome in Calne, Wiltshire, on Wednesday evening, 2 June 1926. They were met about a mile out of the town by the town band. Outside the Town Hall the pilgrims were welcomed by representatives of various women’s associations, the League of Nations Union and members the Corporation. Bad weather meant that the meeting was forced under cover of the Messrs. Harris’ factory. The model resolution on law, not war was passed.
