In the 1980s and 90s, the Yorkshire House was known locally as an LGBTQ-friendly pub and hosted Women in Lancaster District (WILD) events, Lavender Lounge and Dancing Divas. The Gutter Girls also wrote and performed monthly at the Yorkshire House in the late 1990s and the pub later hosted Queer Boots, an LGBTQ-friendly dance night.
