The fourth biennial Congress of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) took place 1-7 May 1924 in Washington, USA. Eleven main resolutions were published as a result. These included: an appeal to the voters in France and Germany in their forthcoming elections; for National Sections to call upon their own governments to sign up to the protocol of the Permanent Court of International Justice; an endorsement of the proposal for an annual International Good Will Day to be celebrated in schools and elsewhere; a call for Germany, Mexico, Russia, Turkey and the USA to join up to the League of Nations; and several more that sought to ensure that the League of Nations was better placed to focus upon conciliation and justice.
